Ski Saturday

With all the snow that we've had recently and the Winter Olympics being on we decided to hit the ski slopes on Saturday. It seemed like we weren't alone in thinking this and it felt like half of America had decided to go to Liberty Mountain as well! It's only just over an hours drive away, just over the Pennsylvania border. Chris' colleague Vicky had been there a few times before so offered to come with us and drive.

It doesn't sound quite right to describe it as a mountain, it looked a bit more like a hill but that suited me. We hadn't been skiing since we went to Finland over a year ago so we were a bit worried especially when we saw how packed the slopes were but as soon as we got going we were fine. It was also our first experience of chair lifts but we survived that too without any embarrassing incidents! The package we bought included an hours lesson which was really useful. There was only 4 of us, all at a similar standard and our English instructor was able to give us some really useful feedback.

On Sunday I was really suffering from aching muscles, especially in my legs. If I sat still too long I couldn't walk properly, Chris nicknamed it my funky chicken walk! On Sunday evening we were invited to a party by the Canadian Embassy to watch the Olympic Ice Hockey game between Canada and USA. Canada lost but with free food and drink we had a great time!
