Lake George, New York

On Saturday we started our journey towards home, stopping off overnight at Lake George in New York state. We had to take our second car ferry of the holiday across one of the lakes to cross the border from Vermont into New York.

When we arrived in Lake George there was an amazing rainbow across the lake.

In the summer it's probably a really great place to visit but there was hardly anything open while we were there. Luckily we were staying in a nice hotel outside of the town and we found a good restaurant to eat in the evening.

On Sunday it was time to drive the rest of the way back to DC.  I think it ended up taking us about 7 hours to get back but my mum and her friend seemed quite happy chatting away in the back of the car the whole way!

When we got home, I had a surprise for Chris.  I got a birthday present for him which was a bit too big for me to smuggle on our trip so it had to wait until we got back home.  Here he is modeling his new paintball gun in his pyjamas!
